Also referred to as "SV", such coach classes are designed to accommodate 2 passengers in each lockable cabin. This is the most comfortable and advisable cabin option for those planning a Trans Siberian vacation on a regular Russian train. As a rule, there are 8 or 9 cabins per coach of this type with two bathrooms per car.

First Class cabins have a large window, offer 2 lower berths and a small table in between them. Each cabin has a 220V electric socket to charge your appliances and devices, as well as a TV.

Second-Class Cabin

Another Trans Siberian train cabin type for 36 passengers is called "Kupe" in Russian. This is the second most popular train car type for those who plan to travel on the extensive Trans-Siberian railway onboard regular Russian trains. Such compartments accommodate four passengers each and have 2 upper and 2 lower berths.

The cabins also have a closable door, large window, and an electric socket under the table. Luggage is stored under the two lower beds. Bed linen is provided for all passengers.

The Trans-Siberian railway cabin 3rd class is the least recommended travel option on Russian trains. Also named "Platzkart", such cars are designed for 54 passengers, have no doors and feature extra double berths. This is the cheapest class on the Russian trains yet.

We do not advise you traveling on this class. Your time onboard will most likely be unpleasant and uncomfortable as there will be a lack of privacy, not to mention the noisy fellow passangers.
